Biography

Rene Capone's artwork is visually stunning and emotionally loud. The images in the paintings can be both erotic and sensual, introspective and proud. For viewers who can see shades of themselves depicted in his paintings, Rene's work is both liberating and incredibly sexy.

Rene Carol Capone (b. September 22, 1978) is an American figure painter known for his depiction of the male form with whimsical, erotic and mysterious imagery; often used together. He also works with stories and myth. Capone began his career as an artist creating dreamlike, sensual, often homoerotic images of young men in search of love, identity, and their place in the world. His paintings and drawings are highly prized by art collectors in the LGBT community, they now hang on the walls of private and corporate collectors around the world.

Born in upstate New York in a small town named Niskayuna. He is the oldest of four children. His relationship to the famed mobster Al Capone remains a well kept mystery. His Birth certificate legally says Capone. He attended the Parsons School of Design in New York City, NY with a merit scholarship in fine arts. Upon completion in 2000, he moved to California to continue studying at the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco's North Beach Area. In the San Francisco Bay Area his career took off.

Private collectors of Capone's work can be found in the United States of America, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland,England,France,Japan, =and the Netherlands. In 2004 Glaxo Smith Kline became his first corporate collector.

He took a four-year absence from creating fine art to dig deep into the topic of child abuse in a graphic novel titled "The Legend of Hedgehog Boy." The novel struck a deep chord with readers, and transformed the artist as well. Other publishing achievements include: "Stripped: The Illustrated Male" from Bruno Gmunder. His work has been featured in RFD Magazine, XY magazine, Blue, Joey, Y&A, as well as being featured widely over the world wide web. Capone's art was reviewed by The Advocate in 2015 by arts and culture editor Adam Sandel. Recently his art has ben published on book covers from France to Israel & now will be the featured artist for a series of books from arnolandpress.com called "The Goldberg Variations."

His newest book "A Boy Named Patience" a 240 page art & poetry project created with Long Beach poet Dave Russo has also been released on Amazon.

Capone was hospitalized for multiple bone replacement procedures taking  four year to complete. He made a full recover and a series of art titled "The Chronicles of Zebra Boy" created during this time as a symbolic and mythic process of represent surgery and healing. The artistic metaphor of becoming a living zebra was featured in POZ magazine titled "Turning Scars Into Art." in 2017

Capone recovered relocated to Southern California to Newport Beach. Capone healed, recovered & moved on with his life. Still looking for magic, mystery & a touch of undefinable danger. At 41 years old has created a body of work that defies logic, volume and scope of emotional content.
